"To Be" Offering Your Light

We spend a lot of our time learning. Some proceed to post-secondary, for others, it's a trade or a course of some kind. That one course may lead to three. Maybe you study abroad or sign up for a retreat. I have sat on a lot of chairs for several hours typing notes and drawing diagrams. Maybe you never went back to school, perhaps you did not enjoy it. But you are reading aren't you? Watching documentaries, listening to strange science podcasts?

We all have our thing. This one thing that we are passionate about. I have several things I am passionate about let me tell you... but one that will remain very near and dear to my heart is, yoga. I did the thing where you pay over three thousand dollars to learn more about it. I even bought a book this week to delve into more about theory and philosophy. I love to learn. Speaking of learning and loving... MY SISTER! Big shout out to her for getting accepting into the Masters of Education (Counselling Psychology) program. She will be doing more learning, you go Wendy! (we call each other that name but her name is actually, Ayra).

I felt strongly reflecting on 2019 that this new year is going to be big. I will gather all the knowledge I have accumulated and offer the world my light. I have decided to become a yoga teacher, once and for all! I feel ready to offer yoga to the world. I have been holding back for well over a year now, knowing in my heart that I wanted to teach, but crapping my pants actually thinking of doing it. I have been doing a lot of laundry.

Why is it that I am ready now? I think it is because I have separated the idea that I cannot do it with recognizing that as an avid yogi, I know a lot and I have a lot to offer. Doing something new is always scary. Starting my job at Enviros was terrifying yet rewarding. Applying for MRU was nerve racking but it was the best years of my life so far! Doing things that are scary are good for us. Unless it a haunted house, nothing good comes from going in one of those.

Our brains are super duper. It is able to store information as memory and get rid of other ones no longer valuable to us. Trust in that you will remember what you have learned and offer that knowledge to others. There are many ways in which you can offer your light. Purely doing the things you love will show others that you are investing in yourself, your abilities, your passions. My boyfriend is in this "wood working phase" I call it. Catching up on the latest YouTube vids or experimenting with new tools. I love him for it.

Choosing things that make you happy and learning from them. That is what makes you such a great teacher. Whether you are in a yoga studio, a classroom, at the family table with children, or aimlessly walking in a park. Share your bright light everywhere you go. What is the worst that could happen?

Be a sponge. Soak up the information around you and become your own teacher.

Best of luck,

Zoey Fern
